  Parasitism is a harmful relationship between microorganisms and their host. Biotrophic fungi, such as powdery mildew and rusts, are obligate parasites that extract nutrients from living plant cells using specialized structures like haustoria and appressoria. These pathogens weaken plant defenses by inhibiting enzyme secretion, making them particularly dangerous. Blumeria graminis, causing powdery mildew, affects all cereals and forms a white coating. Pucciniales, or rusts, represent the largest group of biotrophs, with complex life cycles involving up to five spore stages, complicating their identification. Resistance to chemical pesticides and environmental concerns have driven interest in alternative, safer, plant protection solutions.   This study evaluated the effect of precooking on gluten-free shortcrust cookies made from 100% sorghum flours from two European varieties, Icebergg and Benggal, with 0–100% of the sorghum fraction subjected to pre- cooking before dough preparation. Precooking the flour increased total dietary fiber from 6.57 to 7.29 g 100 g 1 d.m. in Benggal and from 5.63 to 6.68 g 100 g 1 d.m. in Icebergg cookies. Free phenolics increased by ≈ 27–28%, conjugated phenolics by 28–37%, while bound phenolics decreased by 19–22%, accompanied by notable (≈13–69%) increases in antioxidative activity (ABTS/DPPH). TBARS values rose moderately during storage (≈0.48 → 0.54 and 0.53 → 0.58 mg MDA kg 1), indicating that higher antioxidant capacity did not prevent progressive lipid oxidation.   Within the complex regulatory network of the gastrointestinal tract, enteroendocrine cells play a fundamental role in coordinating digestive processes and maintaining metabolic balance. These cells produce a wide range of hormones that influence secretion, motility, and nutrient utilization, constituting an essential component of gastrointestinal physiology in ruminants. Despite the growing interest in the role of endocrine regulation in digestive system function, comprehensive studies evaluating enteroendocrine cell populations across different segments of the gastrointestinal tract in cattle remain limited.   The increasing amount of waste generated by the agricultural industry, especially in the wine sector, poses environmental and economic challenges. This issue is particularly pressing as the global population is projected to reach 8.5 bln by 2030, which will further exacerbate solid waste management problems. Therefore, a study was conducted to investigate the possibility of using grapevine leaves as an alternative animal feed ingredient. The aim of the present study was to analyse the chemical composition of the leaves of four grape varieties, ‘Regent’, ‘Rondo’, ‘Seyval Blanc’ and ‘Solaris’, in the context of their potential use as animal feed.   Overweight and obesity pose a serious public health challenge around the world. Many dietary plans available online do not comply with dietary recommendations and are nutritionally unbalanced. The aim of this study was to assess women’s knowledge about the safe use of alternative weight loss diets, as well as to evaluate the results of using alternative diets in the studied popula- tion and their impact on health and well-being.
