In Polish breeding of purebred Arabian horses racing performance is treated as one of selection criteria. The required race results should be, however, combined with a correct conformation and classic Arabian type. 210 stallions enrolled to the PASB used for mating in seasons 1990-2005 were estimated. They were compared according to separate components of the Index of Use Value of the Arabian Horse. Numbers, shares of different use value indicators for producers used in a given season, their average Cs per head, numbers and percentages of stallions put to stud after racing, as well as average values of Cs per head in specified sirelines and damlines, were computed. It was found that in comparison to the period 1982-1994, in the currently tested period, a lower percent of stallions was put to studs after a raceing carrer, whereas among the raced ones there were fewer outstanding racers used in breeding. The tested stallions represented all sirelines and damlines existing in the Polish population of Arabian horses.
