Jakość osobniczą samców saren oceniano w oparciu o masę tuszy, mase poroży, długości tyki lewej i prawej kozłów pozyskanych na Wyżynie Lubelskiej w dwóch sezonach łowieckich – 1996 i 2005. Wyniki własne zestawiono z analogicznymi badaniami z tego terenu prowadzonymi w latach 1978-1983 i 1994-1996. W badanym okresie (1996 i 2005) nie wystąpiły istotne różnice masy tuszy w porównaniu z wynikami z lat 1997-1983, lecz nastąpiło obniżenie masy ciała kozłów ze wszystkich grup wiekowych. Masa poroży w 2005 r. była większa w porównaniu z masą z 1996 r. we wszystkich grupach wiekowych. Natomiast w odniesieniu do wyników z lat 1977-1983, masa parostków kozłów 4-letnich i starszych była mniejsza. Długości tyk z 1996 i 2005 r. również nie różniły się istotnie, chociaż w 2005 r. dłuższe tyki wystąpiły u kozłów 3 pierwszych grup wiekowych, a kozły 4-letnie i starsze dłuższe tyki miały w 1996 r. W odniesieniu do badań z lat 1997-1983 stwierdzono wzrost długości tyk w trzech pierwszych grupach wiekowych i jej spadek u kozłów 4-letnich i starszych.

Ontogenetic quality of male roe deer was evaluated on the basis of the mass of carcass, mass of antlers, the length of the left and right beams of roebucks gained on the Lublin Upland during two open hunting seasons of 1996 and 2005. The authors’ own results were juxtaposed with analogical research of this area carried out in the years 1978-1983 and 1994-1996. In the analysed years (1996 and 2005), there were no significant differences in the mass of carcass in comparison with the results from the years 1997-1983, but a decrease in the body mass of roebucks in each age group was visible. The mass of antlers in 2005 was higher in comparison with the mass from 1996 in each age groups. But in comparison with the results from the years 1977-1983, the mass of spikes of four-year-old and older roebucks was lower. The length of beams between 1996 and 2005 did not differ significantly, either, although in 2005 longer beams appeared among roebucks from the first three age groups, and four-year-old and older roebucks had longer beams in 1996. With reference to the research from the years 1997-1983, an increase in the length of beams in the first three age groups and a decrease among four-year-old and older roebucks were observed.
