Wild animals, due to the diverse environmental conditions in which they live, are exposed to many stimuli, both exogenous and endogenous, which determine various anomalies and diseases of diverse etiology. The paper presents anatomopathological changes in the internal organs of hares indicating the possibility of cysticercosis caused by the dog tapeworm Taenia pisiformis. The tapeworm was shown to be endemic in each of the areas covered by the study. The highest number of cases, in over 35% of all examined hares, was found in the first two years of the study. In the last year of the evaluation, the tapeworm was found in less than 16% of hares. Individuals infected with the tapeworm showed a decrease in body weight, but the statistical analyses showed that the differences in this indicator of individual condition between healthy and infected individuals were not statistically significant. Importantly ,hunters’ ability to assess pathological changes plays a key role in decisions about the placement of meat from harvested hares on the market and its consumption. This type of preliminary diagnosis is of great importance for game quality and public health.
